I found this house on FB Marketplace. I shouldn’t have paid money for it, but I didn’t want it to be thrown away. It looked as if it had been thrown down the stairs! It was in horrible condition.
The Alvis Bynum House got its name from a house that was located in Chatham County, North Carolina. The house was built by Alvis Bynum around 1875. It was located where the old Piggly Wiggly grocery store stood on West Salisbury Street in Pittsboro. It was said to be “the most ornate home in the town. It is the only house ever built in Pittsboro with a mansard roof. Mr. Bynum was in partnership with W. L. London in building the third courthouse.” The house was demolished around 1965.

I am not trying to recreate the original house (notice that I removed some walls). I am just trying to revive what I feel this house needs. I still have so much more to do. I will add more pictures along the way!
