Building a Community

How I have found my family of other Miniaturists on Instagram

🌟 1. Engage Through Stories

  • Reply to someone’s Story with a thoughtful comment or emoji reaction.
  • Use polls, questions, and quizzes in your own Stories to spark interaction.
  • Share behind-the-scenes content to invite curiosity and conversation.

💬 2. Start Meaningful Conversations in DMs

  • Send a personalized message when someone follows you or comments on your post.
  • Reference something specific from their profile or content to show genuine interest.
  • Keep it casual and friendly—like you’re chatting with someone at a coffee shop.

📸 3. Tag and Mention Strategically

  • Tag friends or collaborators in posts that relate to them.
  • Mention others in captions when sharing mutual interests or shoutouts.
  • This builds visibility and strengthens relationships.

🔍 4. Use Hashtags to Discover and Interact

  • Follow niche hashtags relevant to your interests or industry.
  • Like and comment on posts under those hashtags to meet like-minded users.
  • Create your own branded hashtag to build a community around your content.

🧠 5. Be Generous with Encouragement

  • Compliment someone’s work, style, or message in the comments.
  • Share others’ content to your Story with a kind note.
  • Authentic kindness goes a long way in building lasting connections.

BUT – the biggest thing connecting with other miniaturists is:

Just do what you love (creating / collecting / buying / selling / etc.) Miniatures! People will find you.
